New Ulm Medical Center provides inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment tailored to the needs of the individual. We’re dedicated to improving our patients' quality of life by providing the support and tools needed for successful recovery.
The role of Allina Mental Health is to provide early detection and treatment of mental health issues, consultation and education, and coordinated access to services throughout the entire continuum of mental health care.
Outpatient mental health services
Our outpatient mental health department provides psychological and psychiatric assessments, individual and family therapy, psychological testing, management of psychiatric medications, and home-based mental health services. These services are available to children, adolescents and adults.
The department is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To reach the outpatient mental health department call 507-217-5168.
Inpatient psychiatric services
Adolescent and adult patients from all over the state are treated on our psychiatric unit. The department also offers mental health crisis assessment and referral.

Substance abuse services
In addition to assessing chemical dependency, the substance abuse department provides residential and outpatient treatment and is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Adolescents and adults are served by this department.

Detoxification
Our nurses help patients deal with physical discomfort while experiencing withdrawal from alcohol, cocaine, narcotics or other drugs.
