Scholarships available for local students interested in health care careers

NEW ULM, Minn. 01/15/2010--Scholarships are available for the 2010-11 school year for students who are interested in the medical field. All applications are due by March 1.

The Mary E. Paquay Scholarship is available through the New Ulm Medical Center Foundation to a resident in the New Ulm, St. George or West Newton area who will be entering an accredited nursing degree program this fall at a post secondary institution and intends to pursue a career at New Ulm Medical Center. A $2,500 scholarship will be given to one recipient entering a nursing program.

The Ozias Scholarship Fund is available through the New Ulm Medical Center Foundation to students who are entering their second year into an accredited nursing degree program this fall at a post secondary institution. One $500 scholarship will be awarded.

The Mary E. Paquay Scholarship and Ozias Scholarship applications are available by calling the New Ulm Medical Center Foundation office at 507-233-1188 or visiting www.newulmmedicalcenter.com and selecting Foundation.

The Physicians Group of New Ulm Scholarship is available to graduating seniors from New Ulm High School, Cathedral High School or Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School who are interested in a career in the medical field. Five $500 scholarships will be awarded. Applications can be received at local high school guidance offices or by calling Anna Bastian at 507-233-1400.

The Brown County Medical Society Scholarship is available to graduating seniors who are a resident of Brown County and are interested in a career in the medical field. Three $400 scholarships will be awarded. Applications can be received at local high school guidance offices or by calling Anna Bastian at 507-233-1400.
